Important information
Are you ready for EORI ?
An EU directive requires
from 1/7/2009 all economic operators involved in customs activities in the
E.U. must have an EORI (Economic Operator Registration and Identification)
number. In many cases this will be the first nine digits of your VAT Number
the remaining 3 digit TURN will be discarded.
H M Revenue and Customs should have written to you in
April advising you of your EORI and you should communicate this to us and
any other forwarder who undertakes customs work for you as quickly as
possible. If you have an Import or Export after
the 1st July 2009 and do not have a valid EORI then your cargo will not get
customs cleared and will be stopped at the border point until you have a
valid EORI.
Once you have a valid EORI please advise us by using the form at this link

Customs information Paper (09) 13
We have written to branches advising that they will
no longer be able to use their TURN numbers after 30 June 2009.
A registration
notification will be sent out to those Economic Operators who qualify for an EORI number on 1 April 2009 detailing their name and address, VAT number (if
applicable) and the allocated EORI number, along with an outline of EORI.
Therefore these Economic Operators will not need to apply for their number.
For new
Economic Operators or Economic Operators who do not automatically qualify
for an EORI number we have now finalised the EORI application form. The form
will be available from 1 April 2009 as either a version that can be
completed electronically or a hard copy version. More detailed information
is contained in the following section.
If you do not appear to have received your EORI it may
have been sent to your registered office or Accountant. Should that not be
the case you can apply for your EORI from H M Revenue and Customs
The application form is available as
either a version that can be completed
• electronically (C220); or
• a hard copy version (C220A)
